15 CLASS 6A GIRLS SOCCER PLAYERS TO WATCH IN 2022

Grace Bartlett Blue Valley West
Blue Valley West's Grace Bartlett

GRACE BARTLETT, BLUE VALLEY WEST

Bartlett is one of two Jaguars returning after receiving all-state first team honors last season. The Jaguars finished with a 16-3-2 record as they won the Class 6A state championship, as well as the Eastern Kansas League title. Bartlett and senior defender Sophia Raudez will look to repeat with most of the team's key performers returning.

SM Easts Reese Birch
Shawnee Mission East's Reese Birch

REESE BIRCH, SHAWNEE MISSION EAST

Birch returns from all-state first team and All-Sunflower League second team honors during her sophomore season. She helped lead the Lancers to a Class 6A state runner-up finish, dropping the final 2-1 against Blue Valley West to go 16-5-0 on the year.

Blue Valleys Bella Field
Blue Valley's Bella Field

BELLA FIELD, BLUE VALLEY

Field will look to step up during her junior year for a team with sizable roster turnover from a season ago. The Tigers lost three all-state selections with two graduating and the third, senior Kenzie Hammontree, will miss this season due to injury. So Field will push the action alongside junior defender Mia Yang, who returns from an all-state second team season.

Olathe Wests Lily Hendrickson
Olathe West's Lily Hendrickson

LILY HENDRICKSON, OLATHE WEST

Hendrickson returns as the reigning Sunflower League player of the year. In addition to earning all-Sunflower League first team honors, she also made all-state first team as Owls finished 13-4-1 with a regional final appearance. The Kansas State commit will once again anchor the back line for one of the toughest defenses to score against in the state.

Julia House SM South
Shawnee Mission South's Julia House

JULIA HOUSE, SHAWNEE MISSION SOUTH

House enters her junior season looking to repeat on her sophomore success. Last year she made the all-state first team. The Raiders remain formidable on offense with senior Emma Thurston joining House as returning all-state forwards.

SM Wests Izzy Joyce
Shawnee Mission West's Izzy Joyce

IZZY JOYCE, SHAWNEE MISSION WEST

Joyce returns from an all-state and All-Sunflower League first team freshman campaign. Joyce scored 13 goals and dished 10 assists to lead the Vikings in her first high school season. She might have more pressure though this season as three of her all-state teammates graduated.

Washburn Rurals Belle Kennedy
Washburn Rural's Belle Kennedy

BELLE KENNEDY, WASHBURN RURAL

After being an honorable mention All-City pick as a freshman in 2019, Kennedy was Washburn Rural's most dynamic offensive player last year as a junior. Kennedy led the Junior Blues in both goals and assists, finishing the season with 17 goals and 12 assists. She led Rural to an undefeated Centennial League title and third-place finish at the Class 6A state tournament, earning first-team All-Centennial League and first-team All-Class 6A honors as well as being named Class 6A's midfielder of the year by the Kansas High School Soccer Coaches Association.

SM East
Shawnee Mission East's Ashley Koch

ASHLEY KOCH, SHAWNEE MISSION EAST

Koch earned all-state and all-Sunflower League first team honors during her first season of high school soccer. The sophomore forward helped lead the Lancers to a Class 6A state runner-up finish. She also took home the Sunflower League forward of the year award.

Washburn Rurals Hunter McWilliams
Washburn Rural's Hunter McWilliams

HUNTER MCWILLIAMS, WASHBURN RURAL

A strong complement to fellow midfielder Belle Kennedy, McWilliams ranked second on the Junior Blues in assists last season with 10, while also scoring nine goals. McWilliams earned first-team All-Centennial League honors in helping Rural to an undefeated league title and third-place finish at the Class 6A state tournament. She also was named first-team All-Class 6A.

SOPHIA RAUDEZ, BLUE VALLEY WEST

Raudez will not have Linsdey Kuhlman helping her shut down opposing offensive players after Kuhlman graduated, but she'll likely find a way to disrupt opponents anyway. The senior defender returns from an all-state first team performance for the Class 6A state champions last season.

ELLA RULIFFSON, MANHATTAN

Ruliffson helped lead Manhattan to a fourth-place finish at the Class 6A state tournament last year and is one of two top returning players for the Indians this season along with sophomore Reese Snowden. Both were second-team All-Class 6A selections -- Snowden at a forward position and Ruliffson at defender. Ruliffson also earned second-team All-Centennial League honors.

Olathe West's Kendall Starcevich
Olathe West's Kendall Starcevich

KENDALL STARCEVICH, OLATHE WEST

Starcevich received All-Sunflower League honors for the second time with her first team selection last year to go along with her all-state first team selection. She enters her senior season as second all-time in goals and points for the program. The Drake commit will serve as team captain alongside Lily Hendrickson.

Mia Yang Blue Valley
Blue Valley's Mia Yang

MIA YANG, BLUE VALLEY

Yang returns for a Blue Valley team that will look much different than a season ago. The Tigers lost three all-state selections, but Yang enters her junior season with an all-state second team selection for her work on defense. Along with Bella Field, Yang will try to push the Tigers back to a regional title.

SAMANTHA LOCKETT, SHAWNEE MISSION NORTHWEST

Lockett made all-state second team during her sophomore season. She earned 8 goals and 5 assists to lead the Cougars in points a season ago. Lockett helped lead her team to a regional title game appearance.

Keaton Coad Creighton
Olathe Northwest's Keaton Coad

KEATON COAD, OLATHE NORTHWEST

Coad returns from an All-Sunflower League first team selection last year as a sophomore. She'll look to push the Ravens offense as they deal with major turnover on the defensive side of the ball. Tori Spurgeon, the Class 6A goalkeeper of the year, graduated last spring. Coad, a Creighton commit, will lead the team through that transition alongside senior Maree Shinkle and junior Mimi Hallier.
