Brown took a 5-4 decision over Hoisington’s Lyrica Orosco in the fifth-place match to complete her season with a 23-9 record. Brown will look to contend at 145 in 3-2-1A, where she is ranked No. 2 behind reigning state champion Jaden Ney from Russell.
Oakley's Atavia Cain
ATAVIA CAIN, OAKLEY
Preseason No. 1 at 170
Cain finished one win short of a perfect season last year as a junior. She took a 36-0 record into the 170-pound final against Chanute’s Kiley Dillow, dropping a 9-3 decision in a battle of unbeatens. It was the second straight year Cain finished runner-up at 170. Cain recorded 29 pins last season. She figures to have a strong chance at adding a state championship to her resume in her senior campaign. Her and Dillow will be in different classifications this year. Cain is ranked No. 1 at 170 in 3-2-1A. She’s No. 2 in the all-class rankings behind Dillow, who will compete in 4A.

She had an impressive January run last season, winning her weight class at five consecutive meets, including the Central Kansas League championships, before finishing second at regionals to Oakley’s Atavia Cain. In her state debut, Graves bounced back from a quarterfinal loss to Cherryvale’s Taylor Plumley to reach the medal rounds, where her 33-11 season ended with a loss to Tonganoxie’s Grace Stean in the fifth-place match.
Lyons' Kennedy Grizzle
KENNEDY GRIZZLE, LYONS
Preseason No. 1 at 110
Grizzle, a junior, compiled 66 victories and two state appearances in the first half of her high school career. She’ll try to parlay that success into a Class 3-2-1A medal this season after going 2-2 at state as a freshman and 1-2 last winter, both in the 4-1A 110-pound division. Grizzle went 39-7 last season, winning a Central Kansas League title and adding tournament victories at Hesston, Larned, Remington and Circle. She finished third at the McPherson regional after taking fourth at regionals as a freshman.
ASHLYN HAHN, STOCKTON
Preseason No. 1 at 130
Hahn is a two-time state placer but saw her state tournament end early last year, going 1-2 including a loss to runner-up Jill High from Augusta in the 125 quarterfinals. Hahn finished with a 34-5 record. She placed fourth at state as a sophomore and third as a freshman. She’s moving up to 130, where she’ll be one of the favorites in 3-2-1A. Oakley's Kylee Hodges
KYLEE HODGES, OAKLEY
Preseason No. 2 at 120
Hodges made it all the way to the 115-pound final last year as a freshman. She earned her title shot after an 8-0 decision over Tonganoxie’s Stella Bradley in the semis. HAYLEE HOLINDE, HOISINGTON
Preseason No. 1 at 235
Holinde, a senior, is coming off a 30-5 season that ended with a fifth-place finish in Class 4-1A at 235. After falling 3-1 in the state quarters to eventual champion Kena Leonard of Paola, Holinde won three of her four matches in the consolation bracket, punctuating her season with a pin over Baldwin’s Finnley Kellerman. Like teammate Neveah Graves, Holinde rolled through January unbeaten, then finished second at regionals to Norton’s Kenya Goss. Goss returns as some of Holinde’s top competition in the western half of the state.
Oakley's Abbygayl Jackson
ABBYGAYL JACKSON, OAKLEY
Preseason No. 1 at 140
Jackson helped supply depth for a Oakley team that narrowly missed out on a team state championship in 4-1A last season. A quarterfinalist at 130, Jackson went 2-2 in the state tournament. She’ll look to make a deeper run this year at 140 pounds, where she is ranked No. 1 in 3-2-1A. Jackson posted a 31-8 record last year as a sophomore.
Plainville's Kaeleigh Klein
KAELEIGH KLEIN, PLAINVILLE
Preseason No. 3 at 100

Klein closed her sophomore season with a 27-8 record. She’ll look to take another step forward as a junior. Klein is ranked third behind Stockton’s Carolina Northup and Larned’s Taegan Walker.
St. Francis Cheyenne LaBarge
CHEYENNE LABARGE, ST. FRANCIS
Preseason No. 1 at 125
LaBarge is a two-time state qualifier and will look to become a state placer this year as a junior. She competed at 115 pounds her first two seasons. LaBarge drew champion Holly Thacher from Oskaloosa in the first round of state last year and lost by fall. She finished 1-2 in the tournament and 27-11 in the season. The junior is moving up to 125 this season where she’ll look to contend for a title.
Russell's Jaden Ney
JADEN NEY, RUSSELL
Preseason No. 1 at 145
Ney turned in one of the most dominant seasons at any class last year. She went 38-0 in her junior campaign, capping things with a 4-1 decision win over Santa Fe Trail’s Hailee Crosland in the 145-pound final. Ney moved up to 145 last season after finishing runner-up as a sophomore at 135. Of her 38 victories last year, 35 came by pin. Ney is primed for another huge season as a senior. She’s the top-ranked 145-pounder in any class.
Stockton's Carolina Northup
CAROLINA NORTHUP, STOCKTON
Preseason No. 1 at 100
Northup’s first two high school seasons resulted in fifth-place finishes at 100 pounds in 4-1A. She ran into a previous champion in Sheena Gocela from Winfield in last year’s quarterfinal, losing by pin. Northup wrapped up her sophomore campaign with a 10-0 major decision over Plainville’s Kaeleigh Klein in the fifth-place match. She went 33-9 on the season. Northup will remain at 100 pounds this year as she aims to move further into contention.
Wichita County's Jentri Porter
JENTRI PORTER, WICHITA COUNTY
Preseason No. 1 at 105
Porter has found herself in contention at 105 pounds in each of her first two seasons. She wound up with a third-place showing in 4-1A last season after taking fourth the year before. Porter lost to Frontenac’s Harper Holmes, now at Pittsburg, in the quarterfinals but won all of her matches on the backside of the bracket, including a 3-1 decision over Cimarron’s Veronica Greene to cap Porter’s 40-4 season. She’ll look to take things a step or two further this year as a junior. She’s the top-ranked 105-pounder in any class.
Lakin's Lily Robles
LILY ROBLES, LAKIN
Preseason No. 1 at 190
Robles should have a promising career ahead of her after putting together a solid freshman season at 190 pounds. She won her first state tournament match before dropping her next two bouts, including a 4-2 quarterfinal loss to Girard’s Kara Pope. Robles posted a 20-9 record. She’ll look to become a 3-2-1A contender this year at 190, where she is ranked No. 1.
Haven's Trista Rogers
TRISTA ROGERS, HAVEN
Preseason No. 2 at 155
Rogers had a breakthrough season last year as a junior, becoming Haven’s first regional champion and posting a 37-7 record that ended with a third-place finish in Class 4-1A at 155. She finished in the top three at all her meets, winning titles at Clay Center and Halstead. At the McPherson regional, Rogers pinned all four of her opponents, including Pratt’s Emma Primrose in the final. Her state title bid ended with a 13-3 semifinal loss to Oakley’s Cali Wagoner, but Rogers pinned Prairie View’s Shawna Case to secure third. Rogers posted a 25-11 record as a sophomore, but dropped a pair of regional matches and did not qualify for state.
WaKeeney-Trego's Kallan Rothchild
KALLAN ROTHCHILD, WAKEENEY-TREGO
Preseason No. 1 at 115
Rothchild made it through to state in a strong 115-pound division last year. She had a difficult first match against Rossville’s Keera Lacock, who earned the pin. Rothchild also lost her next state match to wrap up her sophomore season at 26-10. She’ll remain in a 115-pound weight class that should be more open this season with Holly Thacher from Oskaloosa moving up to 120 and the graduation of several other contenders from last season.
Oskaloosa's Holly Thacher
HOLLY THACHER, OSKALOOSA
Preseason No. 1 at 120
Thacher had arguably the deepest bracket of last year’s Class 4-1A state meet. How deep was the 115-pound class? Despite being a two-time state champion – winning titles at 101 as a freshman and 105 as a sophomore – Thacher went into the state meet ranked just fifth going into the state meet, in some part due to a slow start as she suffered four regular-season losses coming back from September surgery on her knee. But Thacher kept her quest for joining the newly created four-time champion club alive, knocking off No. 1 Layla Tindle of Fredonia 4-3 in the semifinals and then taking a 4-2 win over Oakley freshman Kylee Hodges in the finals for her third title. Thacher finished 30-4 overall and now is 86-7 in her career.
Ellis' Maleah Vine
MALEAH VINE, ELLIS
Preseason No. 1 at 135
Vine made a run to the 135-pound semis in 4-1A last year. She put up a good fight against eventual runner-up Jailynn Taylor from Paola, losing an 8-5 decision. Vine ultimately placed sixth to close her junior season at 22-9. The two-time state qualifier will stay at 135 this season and will be one of favorites in that division.
Oakley's Cali Wagoner
CALI WAGONER, OAKLEY
Preseason No. 1 at 155
Wagoner narrowly missed out on a state championship last year as a sophomore, reaching the 155 final before dropping a tight 4-3 decision to Rossville’s Haley Horton. Wagoner cruised to a 13-3 major decision over Haven’s Trista Rogers in the semifinals to set up her shot at the championship. It was Wagoner’s first season at Oakley. As a freshman, she represented Quinter at state – taking fifth – after wrestling with the WaKeeney-Trego team during the regular season. Wagoner is ranked No. 2 in the all-class rankings behind Derby’s Veronica Madrid at 155 pounds.
