Coach’s comment

“Her freshman year, she was a girl who when she needed to score, she had to have an angle and have position,” Silver Lake coach Kyle Porter said. “Her sophomore year, she really developed post moves over both shoulders and then this year especially, she was able to finish with both hands and got really good with her left. Teams can account for her more in the paint and in the half-court when they can double her, but she was phenomenal this year in finishing as a trailer in transition and our guards did a great job finding her. She has an awareness when the ball goes up on rebounds and things like that of keeping that ball high and finishing pretty quick. She’s got tremendous hands and Mark Johnson, our assistant coach who works with our posts, has done a phenomenal job with her and she’s gotten a lot of work with skills trainers and AAU program she’s been a part of to develop as well.”

“She’s very skilled,” Riverside coach Craig Burnes said. “She can do everything at all three levels. She can post up, shoot from mid-range, shoot from the 3. She’s the complete package. She has speed to run the floor and rim-run. She’ll rebound and just run to the front of the rim and beat the other post players down the floor. She has the speed, she can handle it, dribble left and right. Just a highly-skilled player who has really worked on her game.”

Coach’s comment

"This is my 43rd year of coaching, and I’ve been at the Division I level a number of years,” Blue Valley coach Bruce Erickson said. “The way (Wooten) passes the ball and makes her teammates better is the best I’ve ever had. She makes some passes in games, and even in practice, she’ll make a pass that I just don’t understand how she saw it and how she executed it and gets the ball to the person that’s open. That’s the thing that I think she brings to our team. She’s such a great point guard, distributing the ball and getting it to where our kids can be successful. She’s just second to none on that and she really understands the game. Her basketball IQ is just top notch."

“Undefeated is nothing new here, this is our fourth undefeated Silver Lake girls basketball team, but I think it’s probably our most dominant,” Porter said. “What made it so fulfilling this year is to go through all we have – we’ve been together for 101 games – and see it happen for them was so gratifying and fulfilling. It’s probably as emotional as I’ve been as a coach seeing them accomplish that. It’s a credit to their resolve and their ability to continually be their best when their best was needed.”
