The Kansas Softball Coaches Association has announced its 2024 All-State teams.
The organization does not name players, pitchers or coaches of the year for each class but the five state champions were well-represented on the first teams in their respective classes.
McLouth had the most first-teamers of any state champion, getting five in Class 2-1A as the Bulldogs went back-to-back this season. Junior pitcher Dani Lee, senior catcher Anna Patz, junior infielder Cresinda Bandel, senior infielder Marissa Carey and senior outfielder Somer Wyatt earned first-team honors.
Cedar Vale/Dexter was right behind with four selections in 2-1A – freshman pitcher Zoe Davidson, sophomore infielder Gracie Webb, junior outfielder Edee Boatman and junior utility Kendall Ghram.
Class 3A champion Frontenac had the next-most first-team selections among state champions, picking up a trio of first-team selections in junior pitcher Avery Johnson, senior infielder Annie Lee and senior outfielder Abi Beaman. State runner-up Silver Lake also had three first-teamers in junior pitcher Kendra Cook, junior infielder Taylor Zordel and senior outfielder Kaibryn Kruger.
Class 6A state champion Olathe Northwest garnered two first-team selections – senior pitcher Bre Severino and senior infielder Kendall Yarnell. Sunflower League rival Olathe North had the most first-teamers in Class 6A with four selections – catcher Lailah Simmons, infielders Bailey Dillon and Abbie Walden and outfielder Sophie Herman.
In Class 5A, state champion Bishop Carroll also had a pair of first-team picks in freshman pitcher Keira Stripling and senior infielder Cambell Riordan. Basehor-Linwood (senior infielder Kaleigh Small and senior outfielder Harley Baker), Blue Valley Southwest (outfielder Bailey Weber and utility Karter Skillman), Maize South (junior pitcher Sophie Stockam and sophomore infielder Kylie Thornquist), Piper (senior catcher Sage Grann and senior outfielder Gabrielle Salazar) and Spring Hill (junior pitcher Jaleigh White and senior infielder Mya January) also had two first-team picks.
Repeat Class 4A state champion Wamego had two first-team selections in junior pitcher Peyton Hardenburger and freshman infielder Alana McCarthy. Eudora led the way in Class 4A with four first-team picks – junior pitcher Samantha Claire, junior catcher Reese Pattison, junior infielder Jaiden Burris and junior outfielder Lexi Born -- while Clearwater had three in sophomore pitcher Trista Welty, junior infielder Kaylee Hampton and sophomore outfielder Madi Clevenger.
