2024-25 STATE CHAMPION: Blue Valley North

2024-25 STATE RUNNER-UP: Shawnee Mission East

2024-25 REVIEW: Blue Valley North made it three straight state championships as the Mustangs cruised to another title with 302 points and did so — just like the year prior — without having an individual win a state title. The Mustangs did win the 400-yard freestyle relay to cap off what was an impressive team performance under the direction of head coach Rob Cole. They became only the fifth program to win three straight state titles since 1972. Jack Munro (100 butterfly), Henry Parisi (100 freestyle), Khasar Chinbat (500 freestyle) and Connor Golding (100 breaststroke) each had fourth place individual finishes to lead the Mustangs. As for Shawnee Mission East, the Lancers were the state runner-up with 263 points for the third consecutive season and won the 200 freestyle relay. Blue Valley West was right behind East as the Jaguars finished third overall with 238 points. Blue Valley Northwest and Olathe East rounded out the top five team finishers. Blue Valley Northwest’s Micah Churchill won a pair of goal medals in the 200 IM and captured his third consecutive state title in the 100 butterfly. Maize’s Zachary Rife also won a pair of golds in the 100 and 200 freestyle.

2025-26 CONTENDERS: Blue Valley North seniors Jack Munro and Khasar Chinbat, along with junior Noah Pratt, will return to lead a Mustangs squad as they try to earn their fourth straight state championship. It will be a challenge as the Mustangs will try and replace five seniors that won individual state medals a year ago. Shawnee Mission East returns a pair of state medalists in Emmet Lynch, who took third in the 500 freestyle a year ago, along with Grant Kimmel who medaled in both the diving and swim events. Kimmel was sixth in dive and eighth in the 100 breaststroke, but the Lancers will also have to replace a pair state medalists. Blue Valley West welcomes back three strong swimmers from a year as the Jaguars try to move up on the state podium. Colton Poe was a state runner-up in the 100 butterfly and also earned a third place medal. Nathan Weiner returns as the state runner-up in the 100 backstroke and also recorded two state medals, while Ben Scott medaled in the 500 freestyle. Maize’s Zachary Rife is back as he tries to defend his state titles in the 100 and 200 freestyle. Olathe West’s Hayden Renoux is also back in hopes of recording his second consecutive state crown in the 500 freestyle.
