Preseason No. 3 at 100
Barrager, Cherryvale’s lone returning state medalist, finished fourth in Class 3-2-1A at 100 pounds in her debut season. A third-place finisher at regionals, Barrager survived a 12-11 ultimate tiebreaker against Norton’s Allison Quintana in her opening match, then lost to Uniontown’s Madison Shepard in the quarterfinals. After Barrager won three consolation matches, Shepard defeated Barrager again in the third-place match to end the Charger’s season at 30-16. Barrager, who sustained an ACL tear prior to her freshman season, won a Tri-Valley League title in her weight class last winter.
Humboldt's Taevyn Baylor
TAEVYN BAYLOR, HUMBOLDT
Preseason No. 1 at 155
Baylor became the first Humboldt girls wrestler to win a regional title and posted 40 victories last season on the way to fourth-place state finish at 155 pounds. She pinned Council Grove’s Savannah Johnson in the regional final, then won her first two state matches by pin before falling to Plainville’s Zoe Brown in the 3-2-1A semifinals. Though Haven’s Trista Rogers ended Baylor’s season with a pin in the third-place match, Baylor’s 40-5 record improved on a 31-8 sophomore campaign, when she qualified for state in 4-1A and finished one victory shy of the medal rounds.
Hoxie's Josie Bell
JOSIE BELL, HOXIE
Preseason No. 1 at 115
Bell joined her older brothers Drew, Dayton and Duncan as a state champion. She won a thriller against Norton’s Isabella Garrity in the 125 final, scoring in the final seconds to secure a 5-4 decision. Bell finished her sophomore season with a 38-10 record. Bell was the Mid-Continent League champion last season and also won tournaments at Hays and Larned. Bell is headed down to 115 pounds where she will start her junior season ranked No. 1.
Sterling's Jacynn Boeken
JACYNN BOEKEN, STERLING
Preseason No. 4 at 115
Wrestling as part of a co-op program with Lyons, Boeken became Sterling’s first girl to qualify for state, posting a 37-5 record with a fourth-place finish in 3-2-1A at 105 pounds. Boeken took second to fellow freshman Keleigh Ochoa at regionals and won her opening state match before a quarterfinal loss to Wichita County’s Jentri Porter. Boeken pinned three consecutive opponents on the consolation side before Porter edged her 8-5 in overtime in the third-place match.
Minneapolis' Quinley Bohl

Preseason No. 3 at 130
Bohl enjoyed a strong freshman season for the Lions, capturing the North Central Activities Association title at 130 pounds and the finishing third at regionals. Bohl lost in the state quarterfinals to Russell’s Averie Counts, but came back to win three straight consolation bracket matches to reach the consolation finals where she dropped a 3-2 decision to WaKeeney’s Annika Dietz to place fourth at state. Bohl wound up with a 35-6 record with 28 of those wins coming by pin.
Council Grove's Brenah Cannon

Preseason No. 4 at 170
An injury kept Cannon from competing for a full season, but she came on strong at the end of the year to return to state for the second straight year. After going 2-2 at state as a sophomore in 2024, Cannon won her first two matches at state last year before falling to Hoisington’s Nevaeh Graves in the semifinals. Cannon got her third pin win of the tourney in the consolation semifinals and wound up taking fourth after dropping a 1-0 decision to Eureka’s Harlie Owings in the consolation finals. She finished with a 15-8 record overall.
Plainville's Caydance Carter
CAYDANCE CARTER, PLAINVILLE
Preseason No. 2 at 190
Carter gave herself a shot at a state championship last season by pinning her way into the finals. She came up short in the 190 title match against Norton’s Cadence Greeson, losing by fall. Carter finished her junior season with a 32-8 record, earning her first state medal. A two-time state qualifier, she is ranked at 190 this season as a senior, sitting No. 2 in the rankings behind Norton’s Greeson.

Preseason No. 1 at 130
Counts’ high school career got off to a tremendous start, with the Russell freshman making it all the way to the 130 state final last season. She earned pins in her first three state matches to get a shot at undefeated Ashlyn Hahn from Stockton. Counts lost by fall in the title match to finish 43-7 on the season. She was a Mid-Continent League champion and won four other tournaments. With the graduation of Hahn, Counts will be among the favorites at 130 this year, starting the season ranked No. 1.
West Franklin's Mya Crabtree

Preseason No. 3 at 140
It was a banner year for the West Franklin program with Crabtree doing her part for the girls while the Courtois brothers made history for the boys with Logan becoming the program’s first-ever state champion. Crabtree put herself in position to join Courtois as the first girls state champion, pinning her way into the finals. But Norton freshman Halle Pfannenstiel was too much in the title match, beating Crabtree with a 19-2 technical fall victory. The loss ws only the third for Crabtree in a 39-3 junior season – a slight improvement over her 32-8 sophomore season where she went 0-2 at state.
WaKeeney-Trego's Annika Dietz
ANNIKA DIETZ, WAKEENEY-TREGO
Preseason No. 2 at 130
Dietz went home with a medal in her first state tournament appearance, capturing third place last season. She met up with eventual state champion Ashlyn Hahn from Stockton in the 130-pound quarterfinals, losing by fall. But Dietz fought through the backside of the bracket to reach the third-place match, defeating Minneapolis' Quinley Bohl by 3-2 decision. Dietz finished with a 33-11 record. She’ll start her junior season ranked No. 2 behind Russell’s Averie Counts.
Onaga's Emmarsyn Fordham
EMMARSYN FORDHAM, ONAGA
Preseason No. 1 at 235
A basketball player her first two years of high school, Fordham decided to give wrestling a try last year and it turned out to be a record-setting one. Fordham set school records for wins with 26 and pins with 23, breaking the marks set by former Buffalo standout Morgan Mayginnes. Fordham’s debut season saw her finish as the Class 3-2-1A state runner-up at 235 pounds to Hoisington’s Haylee Holinde. With Holinde having graduated, Fordham goes into the season as the one to beat for the title this year.
Plainville's Lillian Garcia
LILLIAN GARCIA, PLAINVILLE
Preseason No. 2 at 155
Garcia nearly made the 145 state final last year. She suffered a 2-1 decision to eventual champion Cheyenne Wagoner from Douglass in the semifinals. Garcia bounced back to claim third place, defeating Oakley’s Brooke Smith by fall. She closed her sophomore campaign with a 38-13 record. Garcia is headed up to 155, where she is ranked second behind Humboldt’s Taevyn Baylor.
Hoisington's Neveah Graves, back
NEVAEH GRAVES, HOISINGTON
Preseason No. 2 at 170
Graves, a junior, wrestled in her first state final last season, unable to deny Oakley’s Atavia Cain a title in her third and final championship appearance in Class 3-2-1A at 170 pounds. Cain pinned Graves in the third period to end the Cardinal’s season at 30-4. Graves had done the same to Cain at regionals, handing the senior her lone loss of the 2024-25 campaign. Graves’ finish was a four-place improvement from her freshman season, when she capped a 33-11 by taking sixth in 4-1A at 170. Graves opens this season behind another Oakley wrestler, Cali Wagoner, who won the 3-2-1A title at 155 last March.
Norton's Cadence Greeson
CADENCE GREESON, NORTON
Preseason No. 1 at 190
Greeson was part of Norton’s trio of individual champions, which included a pair of freshmen in Kaison Miller and Halle Pfannenstiel. The then-junior beat Plainville’s Caydance Carter in the second period of the 190-pound title match. Greeson finished 36-2, with her only loss against an in-state opponent coming to Carter at the Hays Prairie Classic. Greeson won the other three matches against Carter. She helped Norton capture the team championship. Greeson enters the season ranked No. 1, one spot ahead of Carter.
Lyons' Kennedy Grizzle
KENNEDY GRIZZLE, LYONS
Preseason No. 2 at 110
A three-time state qualifier at 110 pounds, Grizzle earned her first state medal last season. She had just missed out on one her freshman year, going 2-2 and falling in the consolation quarterfinals, and then went 1-2 at state as a sophomore in 2024. Last year, however, she pinned her first two opponents at state and was tantalizingly close to reaching the finals, dropping a back-and-forth 16-11 decision to Rawlins County’s Ebony Hughes in the semifinals. Grizzle came back to win her final two matches and finish third, ending the season with a career-best 44-6 record. With a 111-20 career record, she’s already set the school record for wins by a girl and needs just 34 to tie the overall Lyons’ wins record.
Oakley's Kylee Hodges
KYLEE HODGES, OAKLEY
Preseason No. 1 at 120
Hodges has seen back-to-back tremendous seasons end one match short of a state championship thanks to Oskaloosa’s Holly Thacher. Last year, she took a 40-0 record into the state final before losing by 10-2 major decision in the 120-pound title match to Thacher, who won her fourth straight championship. As a freshman, Hodges met Thacher in the 115 final and took a 4-2 loss. She’ll take a 77-8 career record into a junior season in which she figures to have a strong chance to break through for a state title. Hodges is set to remain at 120, where she is ranked No. 1.
Rawlins County's Maggie Holle
MAGGIE HOLLE, RAWLINS COUNTY
Preseason No. 2 at 125
Holle met up with eventual champion Josie Bell of Hoxie in last year’s 125 state quarterfinal, taking a loss by fall before putting together a strong run in the consolation bracket. Holle finished her tournament with a pin over Remington’s Sheyenne Pinkston to secure a third-place medal. A two-time state qualifier, Holle posted a 33-5 record last season. Holle is ranked No. 2 at 125 this season behind Norton’s Kaison Miller, last season’s 115-pound champion.
Central Heights' Ebony Hughes

Preseason No. 1 at 110
Despite finishing the postseason with a modest 26-15 record, Hughes made a stunning run to the 3-2-1A state finals at 110 pounds as a freshman. She opened the tournament with a pin and a major decision before outlasting Lyon’s Kennedy Grizzle in a high-scoring 16-11 semifinal thriller. Her magical run ended in the championship match against Whitewater-Remington’s Camila Martinez, but Hughes still closed her rookie campaign as a state runner-up. Now a year older and she is ranked No. 1 at 110 pounds heading into the season.
Oakley's Abbygayl Jackson

Preseason No. 2 at 140
Jackson launched a bid for a 135-pound state title last season, making the final after pinning Hoisington’s Lillian Gradig in the semis. She met Mid-Continent League rival Kinsey Zorn of Russell in the title match, losing a 15-9 decision after beating Zorn in the three previous matchups. Jackson finished her junior campaign with a 23-4 record. She is ranked No. 2 at 140 pounds behind reigning state champion Halle Pfannenstiel from Norton.
Douglass’ Braylie Knisley

Preseason No. 3 at 235
Knisley, a senior, reached the Class 3-2-1A semifinals in her first state appearance last season before dropping a 5-0 decision to eventual champion Haylee Holinde of Hoisington. She finished state with a 3-2 mark, ending her 12-8 season with a 6-2 loss to Ellinwood’s Emma Hahn in the third-place match. Knisley posted a 23-17 record as a sophomore, dropping both of her regional matches. A runner-up at last season’s Wichita South Invitational, Knisley opens this season behind 2025 state runner-up Emmarsyn Fordham of Onaga and Royal Valley’s Hanna Myers in the KWCA’s 3-2-1A rankings at 235.
Doniphan West's Layla Kuhnert
LAYLA KUHNERT, DONIPHAN WEST
Preseason No. 3 at 190
Kuhnert put together the best season for a Doniphan West girl in placing third at 190 pounds at state last year. After capturing a regional title, Kuhnert rolled through her first two matches at state with pins before getting knocked off by Plainville’s Caydence Carter in the semifinals with a first-period pin. Kuhnert rebounded nicely, however, to pin both of her opponents on the backside to finish third, capping a 28-4 season.

Preseason No. 1 at 100
Landis, a Friends University signee, is the reigning 100-pound champion in Class 3-2-1A. The East regional winner capped a dominant state performance with a 13-0 major decision over Stockton’s Carolina Northup. Landis added two technical fall victories and a pin at state to complete a 32-6 season. She joined now-graduated teammate Cheyenne Wagoner as the Bulldogs’ first girls state wrestling champions. With Landis and Northup returning for their senior seasons as the top two in the KWCA’s 3-2-1A rankings, a possible rematch looms. Landis’ season highlights included titles at the Kan-Okla Classic, Wichita South Invitational and Circle Invitational. Landis went 18-20 as a sophomore competing for Rose Hill.
Caney Valley’s Sierra Loader

Preseason No. 2 at 120
One of three Bullpup state medalists last season, Loader finished her freshman campaign with a 32-10 record while taking third in 3-2-1A at 115 pounds. A regional runner-up to Central-Burden’s Aubrey Miller, Loader scored a technical fall and pin to reach the state semifinals before eventual champion Kaison Miller pinned her in the semifinals. Loader responded with two more victories, the last a 12-5 decision over Russell’s Mya Trevino in the third-place match. Loader went unbeaten at the Labette County and Tri-Valley League meets, and dropped a 3-0 decision to 5A champion Avery Hinojos of Newton in the Eureka Invitational finals.

Preseason No. 1 at 135
Magana lost to Oakley’s Abbygayl Jackson in the 135 state quarterfinals last season before putting together a run in the consolation bracket to reach the third-place match, where she fell to Hoisington’s Lillian Gradig. Magana finished with a 23-18 record. She is ranked No. 1 at 135 entering her junior season.
Jayhawk-Linn's Alayna McCarty

Preseason No. 3 at 120
McCarty made an immediate impact in her debut season, and she’s poised for an even bigger breakthrough in 2025. Competing at 120 pounds, McCarty climbed her way to a fourth-place medal at the Class 3-2-1A state tournament last winter, highlighted by an opening-round pin and a 6-3 decision that carried her into the semifinals. Though she was stopped there by Oakley standout Kylee Hodges, McCarty battled back to reach the third-place match before ultimately finishing fourth against Caney Valley’s Bryleigh Rigdon.
Norton's Kaison Miller
KAISON MILLER, NORTON
Preseason No. 1 at 125
Miller and fellow freshman Halle Pfannenstiel helped Norton quickly vault to the top of 3-2-1A last season. Miller dominated the 115-pound division, completing her phenomenal freshman season with a pin of Bennington’s Lennah Monts in the title match, completing a 37-2 season. Miller did not lose to an in-state opponent last season. At the Hays Prairie Classic, she beat Junction City’s Bree Villanueva, now a two-time Class 6A state champion. Miller is one of three returning individual champs for Norton along with Pfannenstiel and Cadence Greeson. She is set to move up two classes to 125, where she is ranked No. 1.

Preseason No. 2 at 115
Monts will start her sophomore season behind Hoxie junior Josie Bell in the 3-2-1A 115-pound rankings as Bell moves down after winning the 125-pound state title last March. Monts reset after a fifth-place regional finish last winter and made it all the way to the 115-pound final in her state debut. She defeated East regional champion Aubrey Miller of Central-Burden 13-6 in the quarterfinals, then edged Russell’s Mya Trevino 7-6 in the semis. Norton’s Kaison Miller pinned Monts near the end of the first period for the title, ending the Bulldog’s season at 25-8. Monts earned tournament titles at Minneapolis and the NCAA League meet.
Bluestem's Reagan Neal

Preseason No. 2 at 105
Neal, the Class 2A girls state cross country runner-up, turns her attention back to the mat after finishing second to Smith Center’s Keleigh Ochoa in last season’s 3-2-1A 105-pound final. Neal was pinned in 41 seconds in the season finale, ending her freshman season at 33-8. But she collected the East regional title with a 20-3 technical fall over Sabetha’s Avery Herrmann, and added tournament victories at Wichita North, Bluestem’s Jamboree and the Tri-Valley League meet.

Preseason No. 2 at 100
A three-time state placer, Northup finished one win away from a state championship last season. She made the 100 final before taking a 13-0 major decision loss to Douglass’ Ginger Landis to finish 34-7 on the season. Northup is a three-time regional champion and finished fifth at state as both a freshman and sophomore. Northup will look to earn another title shot as a senior. She’s ranked No. 2 behind Landis.
Smith Center's Keleigh Ochoa

Preseason No. 1 at 105
Ochoa made it a memorable freshman season by storming all the way to the 105-pound final, then securing the championship just 41 seconds into the title match with a pin of Bluestem’s Reagan Neal, a fellow freshman. Ochoa finished 37-6 and won seven total tournaments including a regional title. She became Smith Center’s first girls’ champion. Ochoa is set to remain at 105 pounds, where she is ranked first followed by Neal.
Eureka's Harlie Owings, bottom

Preseason No. 3 at 170
Owings moved down from 190 to the 170-pound weight class last season and produced big results for the Tornadoes. Now a senior, Owings is coming off a 37-9 campaign that included an East regional title and third-place finish at the Class 3-2-1A state tournament. She won 26 of 30 matches during one stretch, and collected titles at Burlington, Bluestem, Eureka, Wichita South and the Tri-Valley League meet. Eventual state champion Atavia Cain of Oakley ended her state title bid with a 5-4 decision in the semifinals, but Owings responded with two victories, including a 1-0 decision over Council Grove’s Brenah Cannon in the third-place match. Owings posted a 24-20 record as a sophomore.
Norton's Halle Pfannenstiel

Preseason No. 1 at 140
One of three individual state champs for Norton, Pfannenstiel dominated her 140-pound title match with a 19-2 technical fall over West Franklin’s Mya Crabtree. Pfannenstiel’s only loss to an in-state opponent came early in the season against Oakley’s Abbygayl Jackson, who wrestled at 135 at state. Pfannenstiel won the next two matchups against Jackson. She capped her tremendous freshman campaign with a 39-2 record for the state-champion Bluejays.

Preseason No. 3 at 125
Pinkston complemented Remington senior Camila Martinez’s 3-2-1A title at 110 pounds with a fourth-place state finish at 125 last winter. Now a senior herself, Pinkston finished 42-11, advancing to state with a runner-up finish at the East regional to Maur Hill’s Emma Vice. At state, Pinkston outlasted Republic County’s Kaydence Shelley 16-14 in the quarterfinals before losing 3-2 in the semis to eventual champion Josie Bell of Hoxie. Rawlins County’s Maggie Holle pinned Pinkston in her final match. Pinkston’s junior season included tournament titles at Minneapolis, Bluestem and Eureka.
Wichita County's Jentri Porter
JENTRI PORTER, WICHITA COUNTY
Preseason No. 3 at 105
Porter has never finished worse than fourth at state in her first three seasons. She has placed third in back-to-back seasons. Last season, Porter made the semifinals before losing a 6-0 decision to Bluestem’s Reagan Neal. In the third-place match, she defeated Sterling’s Jacynn Boeken 8-5 in the sudden-victory overtime, beating Boeken for the second time in the tournament. Porter finished with a 37-8 record. She is ranked third behind reigning state champion Keleigh Ochoa from Smith Center and Neal.

Preseason No. 6 at 125
Part of a trio of Caney Valley underclassmen who medaled at state last winter, Rigdon finished third in 3-2-1A at 120 pounds after losing to eventual champion Holly Thacher of Oskaloosa in the semifinals. She finished her junior season with a 33-9 record, pinning Jayhawk-Linn’s Alayna McCarty in the third-place match. A Tri-Valley League champion at 120, Rigdon made her strong run at state after finishing seventh at the East regional. She posted a 27-13 record as a sophomore, finishing one regional victory shy of a state berth.

Preseason No. 4 at 190
Roberts helped Douglass finish sixth at the Class 3-2-1A state meet last season with her fourth-place finish at 190 pounds. She used a pair of third-period pins to advance to the semifinals before losing to eventual champion Cadence Greeson of Norton in the semifinals. Roberts completed her sophomore season with a 26-13 record after a loss to Doniphan West’s Layla Kuhnert in the state third-place match. Roberts posted a 28-11 mark as a freshman, missing a 4-1A state berth with a loss in the blood round.

Smith was a key contributor on a strong Oakley squad that finished runner-up to Norton last season. She placed at state for the second straight year, moving up two spots from sixth to fourth. Smith lost by pin to Plainville’s Lillian Garcia in the 145-pound quarterfinals then reached the third-place match before losing again by fall to Garcia. Smith closed her sophomore season with a 34-10 record. Smith is set to move up to 155, where she is ranked third.

Preseason No. 3 at 110
Snyder earned a fourth-place state medal at 110 pounds last season as a junior. She lost by fall to Lyons’ Kennedy Grizzle in the quarterfinals. Snyder made it to the third-place match before meeting up with Grizzle again and dropping a 9-8 decision. Snyder finished with a 24-17 record. She is ranked third behind Central Heights’ Ebony Hughes and Grizzle.

Solze won her opening match at state last season before running into eventual state champion Halle Pfannenstiel of Norton in the 140 quarterfinals, where she lost by fall. Solze made the third-place match, taking an 8-1 decision loss to Plainville’s Ella Normandin. She closed her junior season with a 21-16 record. Solze is set to move up to 145, where she is ranked No. 1.

Trevino nearly made the 115 state finals last season as a junior. She beat WaKeeney-Trego’s Kallan Rothchild in the quarterfinals before dropping a 7-6 decision to Bennington’s Lennah Monts in the semifinals. Trevino ultimately finished fourth to earn her first state medal. She posted a 38-10 record. Trevino is set to move up to 135, where she is ranked second behind Trego’s Layla Magana.

Preseason No. 1 at 170
A three-time state placer, Wagoner captured the 155-pound championship last season in her second straight trip to the finals. Wagoner defeated Plainville’s Zoe Brown by pin to complete a 31-2 season. She took runner-up at 155 as a junior after losing a close match in the final. As a freshman, she represented Quinter at state and placed fifth before moving to Oakley. Wagoner went 5-1 against Brown last season. Her only other loss came to Dodge City’s Yareli Garcia. She is set to move up to 170, where she is ranked No. 1.
