RAEGEN BLACK, CHENEY
 
Black, a 5-foot-7 senior, is the lone returning starter from last season’s Cardinal team that finished 16-6 and tied Garden Plain and Wichita Trinity for the Central Plains League title. She averaged 8.4 points and 3.5 rebounds to earn All-Class 3A honorable mention and a spot on the All-Central Plains League first team. Black and the Cardinals opened this season 3-0, holding opponents to an average of 27.3 points.

ERIKA BOATMAN, GIRARD

Boatman returns as one of the CNC’s most reliable interior anchors after helping the Trojans reach the state tournament for the second straight year and finish 21-3. Boatman averaged 10.7 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.2 steals and 2.2 blocks earning Burlington All-Tournament honors, first team CNC and a spot on the Class 3A all-state third team. Entering the year with 398 career rebounds, Boatman is poised to surpass the 500 mark as she again leads Girard’s frontcourt presence. Her impact was central in last season’s sub-state championship run, with the Trojans’ only losses coming to eventual 3A state runner-up Silver Lake (twice) and St. Mary’s Colgan (third in 2A).

Jayhawk-Linn's Brenlyn Bogan

BRENLYN BOGAN, JAYHAWK-LINN

Bogan, a 5-foot-11 point guard and four-year starter, will be one of the most experienced floor leaders in the Three Rivers League. A three-time all-league selection — including first team honors last season — Bogan also earned honorable mention all-state as a junior. She enters her final season averaging 9.6 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 3.4 steals for her career, providing versatility and length at the point. One of four returning starters, Bogan will anchor a Jayhawks squad aiming to build on last year’s 13-7 campaign and make a push toward the top of the league.

Osage City's Kaelyn Boss
 
KAELYN BOSS, OSAGE CITY
 
Not many freshmen in state history have enjoyed the kind of debut season that Boss put together for Osage City last year. Playing like a seasoned veteran, Boss took the Flint Hills League by storm and finished a stellar season for her and the Indians averaging 23.1 points per game, tops among freshmen in the state and also the most by a 3A player. Boss added 5.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 5 steals per game in leading the Indians back to the state tournament for the first time since 2020 and a 22-2 overall record. Boss, who scored 555 points, was a unanimous first-team all-leaguer and first-team All-Class 3A selection. She went on to capture the 3A state javelin title as a freshman as well and will look to lead the Indians to a deeper state run after last year’s trip ended in the quarterfinals.

AVERY BRAWNER, HAVEN
 
Highly regarded for her prowess in the spring as Haven’s ace softball pitcher, Brawner was a key piece of the Wildcats’ 14-7 campaign last winter, averaging 14.4 points and 7.6 rebounds to earn All-Central Kansas League second-team honors and All-3A honorable mention. She was the No. 2 scorer for Haven behind now-graduated Sienna DeFrain, an all-state second-team pick. One of two returning starters, Brawner is part of a senior-heavy rotation. She has signed to play softball at Hutchinson Community College.

Girard's Maddie Coester
 
MADDIE COESTER, GIRARD

Coester is back as a steady three-year starter and the Trojans’ top scoring threat. Coester helped guide Girard to back-to-back sub-state championships, including last year’s impressive 21-3 campaign that ended with a first-round state matchup against Silver Lake. She led the Trojans in scoring at 12.4 points per game while adding 3.3 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals, shooting 49% inside the arc, 30.9% from three and 75.3% at the line. Her strong junior season earned her second-team All-CNC honors and Class 3A all-state honorable mention recognition. With her experience and production, Coester is expected to anchor Girard’s offense once again as the Trojans look to make another deep postseason run.

JADYN CROSBY, LARNED
 
Optimism is high for Larned’s girls, who return all five starters this season led by Crosby, an All-Central Kansas League second-team selection. The 6-foot junior averaged 13.3 points and 5.6 rebounds for the Indians, who finished 11-9 and 4-4 in league play. Crosby scored 20 points and was joined in double figures by Lauren Sleder, Brooke Simmons and Cassidy Wachs in this season’s opening victory over Pratt. The Indians also started the season strong defensively, holding Pratt and Kinsley to a combined 42 points.

Goodland's Libby Cure 

LIBBY CURE, GOODLAND

Cure was a key contributor on a Goodland team that finished 16-7 a season ago, falling to Colby in the sub-state championship game. The Cowgirls graduated their top player in Marie Martin but returned a solid nucleus including Cure, who earned second-team All-Great West Activities Conference honors as a junior. She was honorable mention All-3A. Goodland, which won state titles in 2022 and 2023, will look to reestablish itself as a contender this season.

Silver Lake's Karys Deiter

After losing four starters off its 2024 undefeated Class 3A state championship team, Silver Lake needed some new faces to step up to support returning starter Kailyn Hanni. Though just a freshman, Deiter emerged as a force. The 5-foot-7 guard averaged 12.5 points and 4.7 rebounds per game to help the Eagles return to the state championship game. Deiter averaged 14.7 points per game at the state tournament and capped her strong debut season earning second-team All-Big East League and honorable mention All-Class 3A honors.

Riverside's Niahla Duncan

Ever since making a splash at the Class 2A state tournament her freshman year when she helped Riverside reach the championship game, Duncan has been a steady influence for the Cyclones, be it at the point guard or shooting guard position. The 5-foot-3 senior is a four-year starter and last year led the Cyclones in scoring with 10.5 points per game. She added 4 assists, 4 rebounds and 2 steals a contest and earned first-team All-Northeast Kansas League honors after being honorable mention All-Big Seven League her sophomore season. Duncan has helped Riverside to two state championship games in her career.

TAEGAN ESKAM, CIMARRON

Eskam is back to lead the Bluejays after averaging 13 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals as a junior on last season’s 9-12 team. “She can score in multiple ways and is one of the best defenders I have coached,” Cimarron coach Austin Stebens said. She was a first-team All-Great West Activities Conference choice and was honorable mention All-3A.  Eskam has signed with Dodge City Community College for track.

Holcomb's Bella Galliart 

BELLA GALLIART, HOLCOMB

Highlights from Galliart’s junior season included being named to the Gene Keady Classic all-tournament team and earning a spot on the All-Great West Activities Conference first team. She averaged 10.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.8 steals and 3.9 assists. “Bella has a high basketball IQ with great court vision,” Holcomb coach Andrea Ardery said. “She sees plays as they develop, is a leader for our team and elevates our team to a higher level when she is on the court.” Galliart was honorable mention All-3A for the Longhorns, who went 18-6 last season.

Silver Lake's Kailyn Hanni
 
KAILYN HANNI, SILVER LAKE
 
Hanni has been the engine that makes Silver Lake go since her sophomore season, taking over the point guard spot on a roster that was loaded with upperclassmen her first two sesaons. She came up huge in the 2024 state championship game to help Silver Lake finish off an undefeated season and as the lone returning starter last year, put the Eagles on her shoulders and led them back to the title game before a repeat bid ended with a loss to Halstead. Hanni averaged 23 points per game at the state tournament and finished the season averaging 18.2 points per game. She also added 6.2 assists and 6.3 rebounds per game and was a tenacious defender on Silver Lake’s full-court press. Hanni was a first-team All-Big East League and first-team All-Class 3A pick and has committed to Fort Hays State.

ELLIE HELMS, RIVERTON

Helms returns for her fourth year as a starter, bringing stability, scoring punch and leadership to a Rams squad looking to build on last season’s 11–9 finish. The 5-foot-7 floor general earned first team All-CNC, Lancer Classic All-Tournament, and all-state honorable mention honors a year ago after averaging 11 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game. Helms, who spent her first two years at Columbus before transferring to Riverton, has already signed to continue her career at Benedictine College. She’s opened her senior campaign looking every bit like a future collegiate guard. She has powered the Rams to a 2–0 start, erupting for 25 points in the opener against Cherryvale before adding 15 more in a win over Frontenac.

Cherryvale's Harmony John

HARMONY JOHN, CHERRYVALE
 
John, a junior, helped Cherryvale capture a share of the Tri-Valley League title last season, averaging 14.6 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals. She was an All-Tri-Valley League first-team pick and All-3A honorable mention for the Chargers, who finished 16-5 after a Class 3A sub-state semifinal loss to Frontenac. John helped Cherryvale win Iola’s War on 54 midseason tournament for the second time in three years, scoring 21 points in a championship game victory over Iola.

Southwestern Heights' Layla Kisner 

LAYLA KISNER, SOUTHWESTERN HEIGHTS

The Mustangs returned their leader in Kisner, who helped the team go 17-5 last season. The guard averaged 15.8 points, 4.2 steals, 3.8 rebounds and 2.7 assists. “Great leader, very good on ball defender,” Southwestern Heights coach Amanda Kisner said. “She is tough to guard, extremely quick and can get downhill and finish with either hand, and shoot the 3.” Kisner was a first-team All-Hi-Plains League pick and earned honorable mention All-3A honors last season. Kisner is committed to Seward County.

Burlington's Mac Medlock
 
MAC MEDLOCK, BURLINGTON
 
A starter since her freshman season, Medlock can be a matchup problem with her length on the perimeter with her 5-foot-11 frame. The junior shooting guard shot 30% from 3-point range last year and was Burlington’s leading scorer at 14.8 points per game. She also works the boards to the tune of 6.6 rebounds per game and earned first-team All-Pioneer League honors after being a second-team selection her freshman season. Medlock has been honorable mention All-Class 3A the past two seasons and goes into her junior year carrying a 12.5 per game scoring average and has already made 107 3-pointers in her career, 57 of them coming last season. Medlock got a taste of a state title in track, running on the Wildcats’ 3A title 1,600 relay.

A three-sport standout, Michaelis will look to help the Broncs improve on last season’s 10-11 campaign. Michaelis was a first-team All-Hi-Plains League selection last season as a sophomore and was honorable mention All-3A. She’s coming off a big volleyball season and is also the reigning Class 3A triple jump champion.

Eureka's Britta Mongeau

BRITTA MONGEAU, EUREKA
 
Mongeau, a state medalist in cross country and track for Eureka, has used her running ability to flourish in the Tornadoes’ fast-tempo, pressuring style of play. A complementary scorer, Mongeau averaged 6.8 points, 2.5 assists and 1.9 steals last season to help Eureka win a share of the Tri-Valley League title. Mongeau, who can knock down the 3-point shot, has the potential to increase her offensive production. She earned second-team all-league honors as a junior a season ago.

Ellsworth's Alexis Moore

Moore was a key contributor on a Bearcat team that went 15-6 last season, falling to Goodland in the sub-state semifinals. Moore averaged 8.1 points and 7.1 rebounds in her junior season. She was a first-team All-North Central Activities Association selection. Ellsworth could be primed for a big season with an experienced group.

After being mostly a role player during her freshman season in 2023-24, Nelson saw her numbers skyrocket as she moved into more of a leading role last year as a sophomore. The 5-foot-5 guard went from scoring just over 4 points per game her freshman season to averaging 16 points per contest last year. Nelson added 4.7 rebounds and 2.6 steals per game and shot 30% from 3-point range and earned third-team All-Big East League honors. She’s just 60 points away from 500 in her career.

ABIGAIL PEARSON, SOUTHEAST OF SALINE

Pearson was a veteran presence for a young Southeast of Saline team a year ago as a junior and wound up leading the Trojans in scoring at 11.7 points per game, just ahead of impact freshman Kyiah Samuelson’s 11.8 scoring average. The 5-foot-7 senior guard also averaged 4.4 rebounds and 2 assists per game, earning first-team All-North Central Activities Association honors for the second straight year as well as being an honorable mention All-Class 3A selection. She is one of four returning starters for the Trojans this season as they look to build on last year’s 15-6 record.

Ellsworth's Lainey Peschka

LAINEY PESCHKA, ELLSWORTH

Peschka delivered a strong junior campaign last season, averaging 14.7 points, 2.2 assists and 2.2 steals. She helped the Bearcats produce a 15-6 record including a 9-2 mark in North Central Activities Association play. Peschka earned first-team all-league honors and was honorable mention All-3A. She leads a senior-laden team that also includes fellow first-team all-league pick Alexis Moore.

Minneapolis' Baylee Randall-Hurt

BAYLEE RANDALL-HURT, MINNEAPOLIS

Randall-Hurt emerged as a top-notch post presence for the Lions last year as a sophomores. She finished the season averaging 13 points and 7.6 rebounds per game on her way to earning first-team All-North Central Activities Association and honorable mention All-Class 3A honors. She’s already recorded her first double-double this season, going for 24 points and 14 rebounds in the Lions’ season opener.

KACY ROESCH, MARYSVILLE
 
One of the top high jumpers in Class 3A with back-to-back-to-back state medals in the event the past three springs, Roesch uses that leaping ability to be one of the top post players in the North Central Kansas League. Though she didn’t average double figures in scoring or rebounding last year, she nearly averaged a double-double for the season, checking in with 9.2 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. She’s a top-notch defender who guards the opposing team’s best player every night. She’s on pace to finish top five on Marysville’s career rebounding list. She was a first-team all-league and honorable mention All-Class 3A selection last year.

Eureka's Brenna Rucker

BRENNA RUCKER, EUREKA
 
Rucker, a basketball and volleyball standout for the Tornadoes, has worked her way back from an ACL injury she sustained last January during her junior season. A two-time All-Tri-Valley League selection, Rucker averaged 19.2 points, 8.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists before she went down, helping Eureka post a 16-6 record. The Lindenwood signee earned All-Class 2A honorable mention during the 2024-25 season. As a sophomore, Rucker averaged 16.8 points and 7.8 rebounds to earn All-2A second-team honors and helped Eureka qualify for state after earning a Class 3A tournament berth in 2023.

Samuelson stepped right in and was an impact freshman for the Trojans last year, starting at shooting guard. It shouldn’t have been a surprise as she also was a key starter for the Trojans in volleyball and softball. On the hardwood, the 5-foot-7 Samuelson ranked second on the team in scoring at 11.3, less than a half point off the team led held by returning senior Abigail Pearson. She also added 3.5 rebounds and 2.4 steals a contest and was one of two first-team All-North Central Activities Association selections for the Trojans as they posted a 15-6 record.

Halstead's Piper Schroeder

PIPER SCHROEDER, HALSTEAD
 
Schroeder didn’t get to cross the finish line last season due to a late-season knee injury. But the junior point guard was there for most of Halstead’s journey to its first girls state basketball title. Schroeder led the Dragons’ balanced scoring attack, averaging 9.8 points to go with 3.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.1 steals per game. She earned All-Central Kansas League first-team honors as well as All-3A honorable mention. With Schroeder rejoining a squad that graduated just three seniors from its 2024-25 state roster, the Dragons are a likely Class 3A contender again.

Osage City's Emory Speece
 
EMORY SPEECE, OSAGE CITY
 
Speece has held down Osage City’s starting point guard job since her freshman season and last year helped the Indians return to the Class 3A state tournament for the first time since 2020. The 5-foot-2 senior plays much bigger than her size and last year averaged 13.1 points per game, just a tick down from the 13.7 she averaged as a sophomore. She also added 3.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 4 steals per game and has set the school record for 3-pointers made in a career as well as tied 3-point makes in a game with 6. She’s earned first-team All-Flint Hills League honors the past two seasons after being a second-team pick as a freshman. Speece is a four-time state cross country qualifier and holds the school 5K record and is a three-time medalist and also has competed at state volleyball and track.

Burlington's Alexa Splechter
 
ALEXA SPLECHTER, BURLINGTON
 
Splechter has teamed with fellow junior Mac Medlock to give Burlington a dangerous shooting duo from beyond the arc the past two seasons. Last year, Splechter hit 41 3-pointers, second to Medlock’s 57, and shot 32% from deep on her way to averaging 10.9 points per game. She also runs the point and dished out 4.1 assists and collected 3.2 steals per game, earning first-team All-Pioneer League honors after being a second-team pick her freshman season. Splechter averages just under 10 points per game for her career and has been a two-time honorable mention All-Class 3A pick. She helped lead Burlington to a 16-7 mark last year and co-league title and will look to help the Wildcats get back to the state tournament this season.

Maranatha's Quinn Sramek

QUINN SRAMEK, MARANATHA

Sramek, a 5-foot-9 guard/forward, enters her second year as a team captain and a multi-year starter for the Eagles. Sramek was a first-team all-Kaw Valley League selection last season after averaging 10 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists per game while shooting 37 percent from the field. One of the school’s top all-around athletes, Sramek qualified for state in both tennis and track in 2025 and competes year-round in multiple sports.  Now in her senior campaign, Sramek is expected to anchor Maranatha on both ends and provide veteran leadership for the Eagles.

Garden Plain's Reese Stuhlsatz
 
REESE STUHLSATZ, GARDEN PLAIN
 
One of three returning starters along with sophomores Aubrey Haukap and Lylah Zoglman for the Owls, Stuhlsatz averaged 8.7 points, 6 rebounds and 2.2 steals last season as Garden Plain earned a share of the Central Plains League title. The 5-foot-8 senior helped the Owls win 13 games and earned All-Class 3A honorable mention and first-team all-league honors. Stuhlsatz was also a first-team all-league selection in volleyball.

Wellsville's Savannah Viets
 
SAVANNAH VIETS, WELLSVILLE
 
Since moving to Wellsville after spending her freshman season at Coffeyville, Viets has taken over the point guard spot and anchored the position for the past two seasons, this year marking her third as a starter. A tremendous leaper as a state track qualifier in both the long and triple jumps – she’s committed to Washburn for track – Viets’ all-around athleticism leads to her versatility on the court. In addition to averaging 13.2 points per game to rank second on the team last year, Viets averaged 3.6 rebounds, 2 assists and 2.3 steals to earn first-team All-Pioneer League honors. With leading scorer Alana Green opting not to play basketball this winter, Viets will take on even more of the scoring load as Wellsville looks to repeat as league champions and earn a state berth.

Heritage Christian's Mia Vinson

MIA VINSON, HERITAGE CHRISTIAN

Vinson put together a memorable season as just a sophomore, powering the Chargers with consistent scoring and defensive energy. Vinson averaged 20.1 points per game — finishing with 422 total points — while shooting 40% from the field and adding 6.0 rebounds per contest. She also contributed across the board with 1.9 assists and an impressive 3.8 steals per game. Her production helped Heritage Christian to a 13-9 finish before the Chargers fell in the sub-state semifinals to Royal Valley. She was a first team all-Kaw Valley League selection and was named honorable mention all-state.

Oskaloosa's Emma Vogel
 
EMMA VOGEL, OSKALOOSA

Vogel was the leading scorer for the Bears a year ago, averaging just over 10 points per game. She also grabbed 6 rebounds per contest and was a first-team All-Northeast Kansas League selection. A multi-sport standout as a four-time state cross country qualifier and three-time state track qualifier, Vogel’s presence will be helpful as the Bears transition to a new head coach this year and also move up to Class 3A.

Caney Valley's Elyn Washburn
 
ELYN WASHBURN, CANEY VALLEY
 
Washburn had a good freshman season for the Bullpups, averaging 15 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals to earn second-team All-Tri-Valley League honors and All-3A honorable mention. She helped Caney win its first 10 games in a 14-7 season, highlighted by tournament MVP honors in the Ramona Invitational Basketball Tournament in Oklahoma. Washburn scored 53 points in three games, including 16 in the championship victory over Dewey, Okla. With four departed seniors from that team, Washburn will be a key piece of the Bullpups’ transition this season.

Halstead's Addisen Wills

ADDISEN WILLS, HALSTEAD
 
Wills, a senior, played a big role in Halstead’s first girls state basketball title last March, filling the stat sheet in the Class 3A title-game victory over Silver Lake. The 5-foot-6 guard finished with 9 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals in the Dragons’ 48-45 victory, helping Halstead put the finishing touch on a 25-1 season. Wills averaged 12.7 points in the state tournament and led the field with 13 steals in the three games. An All-3A and All-Central Kansas League second-team selection, Wills averaged 7.3 points, 4 rebounds, 3.7 steals and 3 assists for the season.
