CLASS 3-2-1A GIRLS GOLFERS TO WATCH IN 2025
Goodland's Allison Cure
ALLISON CURE, GOODLAND
Cure, a senior, is the reigning Great West Activities Conference player of the year, helping lead the Cowgirls to a third-place finish in 3-2-1A last year. Cure is a three-time state qualifier. She took fifth last year, improving six spots after narrowly missing a top-10 finish in 2023. Cure was a first-team All-3-2-1A selection. Her top round was the 77 she shot to win the GWAC meet at Goodland’s Sugar Hills Golf Club. Goodland coach Connie Livengood said Cure is primed for a strong senior season and will look to play at the next level. Goodland returns all three of its top-12 state finishers from last year. The Cowgirls were regional champs in 2024 and also won every regular season tournament.
Goodland's Natalie Cure
NATALIE CURE, GOODLAND
Cure wrapped up her sophomore season by tying for seventh at state last year at Emporia with a two-day 173. Cure saved her best round for last, carding a season-best 82 on Day 2 of the state tourney to improve nine shots from her first round. She will look to build off the strong finish and help the Cowgirls contend in 3-2-1A. Cure took fourth place at the regional meet at Lakin and was eighth at the Great West Activities Conference tourney in Goodland. She earned honorable mention All-3-2-1A honors last year.
Silver Lake's Kailyn Hanni
KAILYN HANNI, SILVER LAKE
A basketball and softball All-State performer for the Eagles, Hanni is the last link to Silver Lake’s 2023 Class 3-2-1A state championship team, and nearly helped the Eagles to a second straight state championship last year. Silver Lake finished tied with St. Mary’s Colgan for the team title with Colgan taking the crown by one stroke on a fifth-player tiebreaker after both teams posted 718 totals. Hanni was the Eagles’ second finisher at state last year, taking 13th with a two-day total of 180. She was runner-up at regionals to departed teammate Taylor Zordel by one stroke after shooting a season-low 82. That was one of seven top-10 finishes and four top-five showings in her 10 tournaments and she recorded one win at the Jefferson West Invitational. Hanni was a second-team All-Class 3-2-1A selection and is one of just two returners for the Eagles this season along with Savannah Wende.
Jefferson West's Izzy Higgins
IZZY HIGGINS, JEFFERSON WEST
Higgins had a breakout season for the Tigers last year in her first on the varsity roster after the Tigers graduated their entire 2023 team that finished fourth at the Class 3-2-1A state tournament. Her junior season was highlighted by a third-place finish at the Silver Lake Invitational where she posted a career-best round of 86. Higgins finished the season with four top-five finishes overall and then took sixth at regionals to help lead the Tigers back to the state tournament as a team. Higgins matched her career low 86 on the second day of state to finish with a 181 total to tie for 14th with four other golfers including teammate Katelin Lohmann, helping West to a second straight fourth-place team finish.
Hesston's Elizabeth Hosford
ELIZABETH HOSFORD, HESSTON
Hosford, a junior, has been a key part of Hesston’s lineup in each of her first two seasons. She finished fourth last year at the Cheney regional to lead the Swathers to a runner-up team finish and a return to state. While Hesston missed the Day 1 cut at the Class 3-2-1A state tournament by seven shots, Hosford advanced individually and tied for 32
nd with two rounds of 95. She was one of three Swathers to complete both state rounds, joining junior Wendy Roth, who tied for 30
th, and senior Maci Kramer, who tied for 42
nd. Hosford’s low round was an 85 in the Buhler tournament held at Hesston.
Goodland's Tori Jones
TORI JONES, GOODLAND
Jones returns to help lead the Cowgirls after last year’s stellar season. She took 12th at state as a junior with a 178. Jones won at Ulysses with an 86 and finished in the top 10 of every tournament. Cure took fifth at the regional meet at Lakin and was the runner-up at the Great West Activities Conference meet. She earned honorable mention All-3-2-1A honors last year. Jones is a three-time state qualifier and a two-time top-20 medalist, tying for 16th as a freshman in 2022. Goodland is primed for another strong season after returning its top golfers from last year’s third-place team in 3-2-1A.
Syracuse's Bronwyn Lewis
BRONWYN LEWIS, SYRACUSE
In her first state tournament appearance, Lewis nearly secured a state medal as a sophomore last year, finishing one shot out of 20th place with a 185 total (94-91) to tie for 21st. Lewis is the reigning Hi-Plains League champion and she took seventh in the regional meet at Lakin last year. Her best round was a 90 that earned her runner-up honors at the Syracuse Invitational. Lewis is also a standout in track and field, capturing a Class 2A pole vault state title this past spring.
Osage City's Peyton Pitts
PEYTON PITTS, OSAGE CITY
Just missing out on a second straight state medal at the 2023 Class 3-2-1A state meet, Pitts bounced back in a big way at last year’s state tournament. Following a regular season where she posted eight top-10 finishes and seven top-five showings, Pitts capped her junior campaign with a tie for fifth place at state, shooting an 86 on the first day and an 83 on the second day to finish at 169 along with Goodland’s Allison Cure. The 83 matched her career-best score, which she also shot at the Silver Lake Invitational in a runner-up showing. Pitts also tied for first at the Osage City and Jefferson West Invitationals and won the Santa Fe Trail Invitational, earning second-team All-Class 3-2-1A honors.
Caney Valley's Aiva Price
AIVA PRICE, CANEY VALLEY
Price was Caney Valley’s top finisher at last year’s Class 3-2-1A state tournament, finishing 19th after posting a two-day total of 183. That helped the Bullpups to a fifth-place team finish, which was a tad disappointing after they held the tournament lead by two strokes over eventual champion St. Mary’s Colgan after the first day of the tourney. Price’s best round of the season was an 88 at the Coffeyville Invitational, the only time she broke 90 last season. She’s one of four returning starters for Caney Valley this season as the Bullpups look to contend for the team title that eluded them last year.
Jayhawk-Linn's Celeste Schneider
CELESTE SCHNEIDER, JAYHAWK-LINN
For the second straight year, Schneider came away from the Class 3-2-1A state tournament with a ninth-place finish. However, her path to a second straight top-10 state finish was rather different as Schneider battled a long-lasting illness for much of the season that limited her to just five tournaments and hampered her performance early in the season. She did match her career low with an 87 at last year’s Anderson County Invitational that produced a runner-up finish at that meet – one of three second-place finishes she enjoyed as a junior. At state, Schneider improved her score by three strokes from her sophomore year with a two-day total of 174. Schneider has qualified for state each of her first three seasons, taking 24th as a freshman, and last year was a second-team All-Class 3-2-1A selection.
TMP-Marian's Brynn Schoepf
BRYNN SCHOEPF, TMP-MARIAN
Schoepf delivered a promising freshman season that was capped by a top-15 finish at state. She tied for 14th at the 3-2-1A meet with a 181 (93-88). Her 88 on Day 2 of the state tourney at Emporia Municipal Golf Course was her top round of the season. Schoepf was the regional runner-up at Cherry Oaks Golf Course in Cheney with a 96, finishing two strokes behind winner Erin Tims from Larned. She finished in the top 10 of every tournament in the regular season. The Monarchs also return another state qualifier from last year in senior Jenna Brull.
Prairie View's Harley Wade
HARLEY WADE, PRAIRIE VIEW
Wade was the highest finishing underclassman at last year’s Class 3-2-1A state tournament finishing third behind seniors Amelia Bowles of Rawlins County and Margaret Ulrich of Wichita Collegiate. Wade shot an 80 in the first round and then came back with a 77 on the second day to finish with a 157, 10 shots behind champion Bowles. It capped a big sophomore season for the Buffalo standout, who was the Pioneer League champion, capturing the title by 14 shots after shooting a career-best 74. She also won the title at the Pittsburg Invitational and was runner-up at three other meets, including her 3-2-1A regional to Ulrich. Wade placed seventh at state as a freshman in 2023 and will be one of the favorites to capture the state title this season.
Colgan's Danielle Yaghmour
DANIELLE YAGHMOUR, ST. MARY’S COLGAN
Yaghmour was a key contributor as St. Mary’s Colgan reclaimed the Class 3-2-1A team state championship with the Panthers taking the title on a fifth-place tiebreaker after they finished tied with defending champion Silver Lake with 718 two-day team totals. Yaghmour bounced back from an opening-round 90 at state to shoot an 85 on the second day to earn an 11th-place finish, one spot behind teammate Ava Scripsick. She had placed 12th at state as a freshman in 2023. Yaghmour was top 10 in eight tournaments last year, capturing titles at the Columbus, Chanute and Baxter Springs Invitationals. The second-team All-Class 3-2-1A selection is the lone returning starter from Colgan’s title team as graduation claimed the five other Panthers.
