Seven members of the KSHSAA Covered All-State Top 11 headline the selections for the 53rd Kansas Shrine Bowl, which will be held June 27 in Emporia.

The East boasts four of the Top 11 selections with St. Thomas Aquinas’ Stephen Carroll; Southeast of Saline’s Brody Chambers, Nemaha Central’s Carter Hajek and Gardner Edgerton’s Syre Padilla chosen to that squad. Meanwhile, the West roster features Sterling’s Zane Farney, Andale’s Sam Harp and Salina Central’s Cooper Reves.

A total of 88 players were selected for the all-star game, half chosen by the coaches for each team and the other half by a media panel with certain requirements met in building each teams’ roster.

“I’d like to congratulate these young men who have earned this opportunity, through their hard work and dedication as student-athletes, to be a part of something much bigger than just a game,” said Brice Kesler, Executive Director of the Kansas Shrine Bowl. “We can’t wait to welcome these players into the Kansas Shrine Bowl family and showcase their extraordinary talents, while making a life changing impact for the children who benefit from this annual Kansas tradition.”

The East team will be coached by Wellsville’s Mike Berg while the West head coach is Mulvane’s Daniel Myears. Each is making their first appearance as a head coach in the game.

The West won last year’s game 25-8 and leads the all-time series 32-18-2.
