State champion Mulvane swept the player, pitcher and coach of the year honors in Class 4A as the Kansas Association of Baseball Coaches announced their All-State teams.
Mulvane had the coach of the year in Steve Nelson, who led the program to a 28-1 mark as the Wildcats captured their first state championship since 1986. Senior Grey Sanders was named the 4A pitcher of the year and senior Parker Clubb was named the player of the year.
In Class 6A, Mill Valley’s Beau Peterson was named the player of the year while Free State’s Zane Shaw was chosen the pitcher of the year. Maize’s Rocky Helm was named the coach of the year.
Piper’s Myles Ross earned the player of the year honor in Class 5A while there were co-pitchers of the year with Arkansas City’s Jordey Pierce and Salina Central’s Bodie Rodriguez sharing the honor. St. Thomas Aquinas’ Rick Sabath was the coach of the year after leading the Saints to their second straight state championship.
Cheney’s Reece Tolar was chosen as the player of the year in Class 3A and Girard’s Kam Smith was named pitcher of the year after he led the Trojans to the Class 3A state championship. Council Grove’s Matt Wilkens was named as the coach of the year.
In Class 2-1A, TMP-Marian’s Ty Schmeidler was selected the player of the year, Hutchinson Trinity’s Drew Dechant was the pitcher of the year and Rossville’s Kenny Swart was named coach of the year.
