25 CLASS 6A GIRLS SOCCER PLAYERS TO WATCH IN 2024
Olathe Northwest's Cami Abendroth
CAMI ABENDROTH, OLATHE NORTHWEST
Abendroth earned All-State second-team and All-Sunflower first-team honors as a junior last season. The senior defender helped lead the Ravens’ defense to nine shutouts during the team’s 13-4-1 season. The Ravens reached the state quarterfinals before losing 3-2 to eventual state runner-up Shawnee Mission East.
Blue Valley West's Kyra Berman
KYRA BERMAN, BLUE VALLEY WEST
Berman earned All-EKL honorable mention as a sophomore last season. The junior forward scored nine goals and dished out five assists last year. Berman will likely step into a much larger role this season after the Jaguars' roster turnover increased by more than just the Class of 2023 players when Lydia Ungashick and Alexis Morrison graduated early to get a jump start on joining their Division I programs.
Shawnee Mission South's Mina Campos
MINA CAMPOS, SHAWNEE MISSION SOUTH
Campos earned All-State honorable mention and All-Sunflower first- team honors as a junior last season. The senior midfielder helped lead Shawnee Mission South to an 11-5-0 record last season. The Raiders ended up suffering a first-round exit from the playoffs, losing 2-0 against Blue Valley Northwest.
Liberal's Nicole Catalan
NICOLE CATALAN, LIBERAL
Catalan will look to build off an impressive sophomore season. She scored 11 goals and four assists last year. The center midfielder has 14 goals and seven assists for her career. She was a first-team selection on the All-Western Athletic Conference team last year. Liberal will look to improve on last year’s six-win season.
Manhattan's Jada Dibbini (14)
JADA DIBBINI, MANHATTAN
Dibbini has been a force for the Indians since her freshman season in 2022 when she recorded 11 goals in her debut season. She followed it up with seven goals and three assists last year. A second-team All-Centennial League pick as a freshman, Dibbini moved up to first-team honors last year while also earning second-team All-Class 6A honors for the second straight season. The junior attacking midfielder teams with returning senior Emery Ruliffson to give the Indians a potent 1-2 punch offensively.
Olathe South's Alyvia Engelken
ALYVIA ENGELKEN, OLATHE SOUTH
Engelken earned All-Sunflower first-team honors as a sophomore last season. The junior midfielder helped lead Olathe South to an 8-9-0 season. The Falcons lost 5-0 against Blue Valley West in the opening round of the playoffs.
Garden City's Isabel Espino
ISABEL ESPINO, GARDEN CITY
Espino is one of the top returners off last year’s Garden City squad that captured Western Athletic Conference and regional championships. The Buffaloes went 13-3-1, falling to Manhattan in the state quarterfinals. Espino, a center attacking midfielder, was a first-team All-WAC selection as a sophomore. She’s off to a great start in her junior campaign, scoring two goals in a season-opening 3-0 win over Liberal.
Blue Valley North's Jada Farrington
JADA FARRINGTON, BLUE VALLEY NORTH
Farrington earned All-State second team and All-EKL first team honors as a sophomore last season. The junior center back helped lead her team to six clean sheets across 18 games last season. Farrington also scored a pair of goals and connected on two overtime penalty kicks. This will be her third year starting on the Mustangs’ varsity squad. She’s also a team captain and has already has her plans in place to play Division I soccer, announcing her verbal commitment this month to attend Abilene Christian University.
Wichita Northwest's Merari Flores
MERARI FLORES, WICHITA NORTHWEST
Flores and the Grizzlies rolled past league foes Wichita Heights and Wichita East last season to win a Class 6A regional title before falling to Washburn Rural in the state quarters. Flores, now a senior, earned All-Greater Wichita Athletic League first-team and all-state honorable mention recognition at midfielder. She registered the only regular-season goal that Class 5A runner-up Bishop Carroll yielded to a Kansas team last season.

GABBI HERRERA, KC WYANDOTTE
Herrera earned All-Meadowlark first team honors as a sophomore last season. The junior goalkeeper is hoping her strong play at the goal will help Wyandotte improve upon its 2-12-0 record from last season.
Washburn Rural's Kate Hinck (9)
KATE HINCK, WASHBURN RURAL
Rural was loaded with senior standouts a year ago, but Hinck was an impact sophomore who helped the Junior Blues to a 15-5-1 mark and third-place finish at the Class 6A state tournament. The forward recorded 13 goals and 7 assists last year as a sophomore, duplicating her goal total from her freshman season when she stepped in as a starter right away. The first-team All-City and Centennial League pick was honorable mention All-Class 6A last year and is Rural’s team captain this year.
Shawnee Mission West's Izzy Joyce
IZZY JOYCE, SHAWNEE MISSION WEST
Joyce earned All-State and All-Sunflower second-team honors as a junior last season. She’ll look to return to first team status after achieving that as a sophomore, while she’s still looking for her first time being selected to her league’s first team. The senior midfielder scored six goals and delivered four assists last season, pushing her to 35 goals and 27 assists in her career. Joyce will keep her momentum from the basketball season where she passed the 1,000-point scoring mark for her career.
Blue Valley Northwest's Nimu Karani
NIMU KARANI, BLUE VALLEY NORTHWEST
Karani earned All-State and All-EKL first-team honors last year. The latter honor is something she’s achieved each of the last two years, along with being named her league’s goalkeeper of the year. Karani delivered eight shutouts last season. She now has 14 career shutouts while also making saves on 17 penalty kicks. Karani will have a chance to reach the all-time program mark for career shutouts. She also has her eyes set on trying to break the single-season record for that stat as well.
Blue Valley's Greta Likens
GRETA LIKENS, BLUE VALLEY
Likens earned All-State and All-EKL second-team honors as a junior last year. The senior forward helped lead the Tigers to a 14-3-0 record last season. Blue Valley reached the regional finals, only to lose 2-0 against Olathe Northwest. Likens and the Tigers are hoping to push forward with new head coach Will Stoskopf at the helm.
Shawnee Mission East's Katie Lucas
KATIE LUCAS, SHAWNEE MISSION EAST
Lucas earned All-Sunflower second team honors as a freshman last season. The sophomore defender/midfielder scored three goals and dished out six assists on the Lancers last season. Lucas helped lead the team to a 17-2-1 record and a state runner-up finish in 6A. Lucas and the defense only allowed two goals in four postseason games before the team's 3-0 loss against Mill Valley in the state final. She will be a key player for a Shawnee Mission East team that will need to replace seven starters from a year ago.
Blue Valley's Sophia Mir
SOPHIA MIR, BLUE VALLEY
Mir, a University of Kansas commit, earned All-State second team and All-EKL first team honors as a sophomore last year. The junior midfielder helped lead the Tigers to a 14-3-0 record last season. Blue Valley reached the regional finals, only to lose 2-0 against Olathe Northwest. Mir and the Tigers are hoping to push forward with new head coach Will Stoskopf at the helm.
ALEKSAH MORENO, MAIZE
Moreno, a junior, earned All-Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail Division I first-team honors at midfielder last season. She helped the Eagles post a 14-5 record and reach the Class 5A quarterfinals, where they fell to Maize South. Moreno was one of six underclassmen who earned all-league recognition for Maize.
Blue Valley West's Rosemary Pujado
ROSEMARY PUJADO, BLUE VALLEY WEST
Pujado earned All-EKL honorable mention as a sophomore last year. The junior forward scored six goals and dished out six assists for the Jaguars last year. Pujado will likely step into a much larger role this year after the Jaguars roster turnover increased by more than just the Class of 2023 players when Lydia Ungashick and Alexis Morrison graduated early to get a jump start on joining their Division I programs.
Mill Valley's Kate Ricker
KATE RICKER, MILL VALLEY
Ricker earned All-State and All-Sunflower first team honors as a junior last year. The senior midfielder helped lead a Mill Valley team which outscored opponents 19-0 across five games on the way to winning the 6A state title, the program’s first championship despite quite a few previous teams coming close. Ricker and her teammates finished last season with a 19-2-0 record.
Wichita Heights' Annalys Rivas
ANNALYS RIVAS, WICHITA HEIGHTS
Rivas earned a spot on the All-Greater Wichita Athletic League first team last season as a freshman goalkeeper. While the Falcons managed just three victories, Rivas gained valuable experience she will use for new coach Traci Nigg, who says Rivas is “like having a coach on the field.”
Dodge City's Jazmin Ruiz
JAZMIN RUIZ, DODGE CITY
A goal-scoring machine over the last two seasons, Ruiz will look to reach the 100-goal milestone in her junior season. She entered this year with 77 goals after scoring 34 as a sophomore and 43 as a freshman. She smashed the previous school record (21) for goals in a season as a freshman. Ruiz was Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year in 2022 and earned first-team All-WAC honors last year. Dodge City went 12-5-1 last season.
Manhattan's Emery Ruliffson (middle)
EMERY RULIFFSON, MANHATTAN
Ruliffson has been a fixture in the Indian lineup since her freshman season and could set the school record for games played this season. She’s more than just a line-up filler, though. Last year, she led the Indians with 24 goals, helping Manhattan to a fourth-place finish in Class 6A and 12-7-2 record overall. Ruliffson has 50 career goals and 23 career assists and has been second-team All-Class 6A and first-team All-Centennial League the past two seasons after being a second-team all-league selection as a freshman.
Olathe West's Jules Wardlaw
JULES WARDLAW, OLATHE WEST
Wardlaw earned All-State second team and All-Sunflower first team honors as a sophomore last season. The junior midfielder scored nine goals and delivered six assists last season, pushing her to 16 goals and 15 assists for her career so far. Wardlaw enters the season ranked fifth for points on the program’s all-time leaderboard at 39.
Derby's Harper Wintz
HARPER WINTZ, DERBY
Wintz, a sophomore, was part of an effective scoring duo last season with fellow newcomer Lilly Emmerson. Both scored a team-high 12 goals as Derby finished 10-7-1. Wintz earned All-Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail Division I second-team honors at forward despite starting the season at defender. With Emmerson out indefinitely this spring with a knee injury, Wintz’s offensive role figures to increase.
Topeka High's Avery Zimmerman
AVERY ZIMMERMAN, TOPEKA HIGH
Zimmerman could very well go down as the best player in Trojan history, if she isn’t already. A four-year starter, Zimmerman scored 16 goals and had 4 assists from her midfielder position a year ago, giving her 48 career goals and 17 career assists. She’s been a three-time first-team All-City selection and two-time first-team All-Centennial League pick. While she typically mans the center-mid position, she can also branch out to a wing forward spot and is equally dangerous as a scorer or passer. Zimmerman has committed to Emporia State.
