The Kansas High School Soccer Coaches Association has announced its girls all-state teams along with players and coaches of the year for each classification following another memorable postseason.
State champions Mill Valley, St. Thomas Aquinas and Hayden were well represented after championship seasons, earning multiple individual honors.
In Class 6A, Mill Valley coach Justin Crawford was named coach of the year after leading the Jaguars to the state championship. Mill Valley standout Paige Frost earned forward of the year honors, while teammate Jenna Lloyd shared midfielder of the year accolades with Shawnee Mission East’s Mia Mosher. Shawnee Mission East senior Kate Lucas was selected defender of the year, while Mill Valley’s Jamie Ricker earned goalkeeper of the year recognition.
Class 5A state champion St. Thomas Aquinas also collected multiple honors as coach Dan Brown was voted coach of the year and defender Maura Maher was selected defender of the year. Kapaun Mt. Carmel swept two of the top individual awards as Sara Claire Michaelis was named forward of the year and Stella Fury earned midfielder of the year honors. St. James Academy goalkeeper Emma Smith rounded out the top honorees after helping the Thunder to another strong season.
In Class 4-3-2-1A, state champion Hayden had a banner year as coach Klaus Kreutzer was selected coach of the year and standouts Carsyn Broxterman and Reese Huscher earned forward and midfielder of the year honors, respectively after an undefeated season. Bishop Miege’s Izzie Kamer was named defender of the year, while McPherson’s Ellie Herrera earned goalkeeper of the year recognition.
