Selections have been made for the annual Eight-Man All-Star Games, which will be held June 7 in Beloit. The selections were made by the Eight-Man Football Coaches Assocation.
The Division II game will kick off at 10 a.m. while the Division I game will begin at 1:30.
A trio of players from each of this year’s state championship teams have been chosen for the game.
In Division I, state champion Hoxie had Duncan Bell, Easton Nickelson and Sam Watkins chosen to the West squad. Runner-up Central Plains had a pair of selections in Aiden Hekele and Eli Hurley for the East squad.
Division II champion Axtell saw Eli Broxterman, Rilyn Buessing and Daltyn Heinen named to the East team. Runner-up Victoria had three picks as well for the West, Cale Braun, Wyatt Griffin and Jeb Miller.
West Elk’s Creyo Koop, who was selected to play for the West team in the Kansas Shrine Bowl, was named to the East squad as well.
The head coaches for the games are Chase County’s Derick Budke (Division I East), Rawlins County’s Aaron Sramek (Division I West), Marmaton Valley’s Max Mickunas (Division II East) and Bucklin’s Trever Powell (Division II West).
The KEMFA also announced its 2024 Coach of the Year with Hoxie’s Lance Baar receiving the honor after leading the Indians to a 13-0 record and the Division I state championship.
