CLASS 6A GIRLS SOCCER PLAYERS TO WATCH IN 2025
Dodge City's Ashley Alonso
ASHLEY ALONSO, DODGE CITY
A two-time state wrestling champion, Alonso has also been a valuable soccer player for the Red Demons. Alonso has been a 3-year starter since joining the team as a sophomore. She made the switch from defender to midfielder last season and contributed three goals and nine assists. “She was the engine of the team last year and became a true box to box midfielder,” Dodge City coach Abraham Rosales said. Alonso was a first-team All-Western Athletic Conference selection last season and helped the Red Demons win a conference title for the first time since 2017.
Olathe East's Gabi Armenta
GABI ARMENTA, OLATHE EAST
Armenta earned All-State second-team and All-Sunflower League first-team honors as a defender during her junior campaign last season. She helped lead Olathe East to a 13-4-0 record, although the Hawks did suffer a 1-0 loss in the playoffs against Olathe South, which sat four games under .500 at the time. Armenta will return as the leader of a senior-laden defense that will look to replicate its regular-season success from last year. She’ll also use her elite passing and ability to help on the attack to try to support to a front line that will need to rely on underclassmen to provide an extra spark on offense this season. The Hawks will be trying to reach their first regional final since 2021.

KYRA BERMAN, BLUE VALLEY WEST
Berman helped lead Blue Valley West to the 6A state championship last year, the program’s sixth state title in the last seven years. She scored the second of three goals in the team’s 3-0 win over Blue Valley Northwest in the state championship match, pushing her total to 15 goals and 7 assists on the season. Berman, who is an Illinois signee for soccer, will be one of four returning Jaguars who earned All-State honors last season. She earned All-EKL honorable mention for her first two seasons of high school soccer before earning All-State and All-EKL first team honors last year.
Mill Valley's Alyssa Emo
ALYSSA EMO, MILL VALLEY
As a freshman last year, Emo earned All-State second team and All-Sunflower League second team honors last season. She helped a defense that pitched 11 shutouts as the Jaguars finished the regular season undefeated, only to lose in penalty kicks against Blue Valley Northwest in the state quarterfinals. Emo will look to be a key member of a Mill Valley team that retains a lot of accomplished talent, but also graduated four All-State first-team selections.

ALYVIA ENGELKEN, OLATHE SOUTH
Engelken earned All-State honorable mention and All-Sunflower League first-team honors at midfielder as a junior last season. She was a strong leader for Olathe South, which finished the regular season 5-9-2, but earned a 1-0 win over Olathe East, the 6A East’s No. 2 seed, to reach the regional finals. The Falcons couldn’t replicate the upset victory against Blue Valley Northwest in the next round, losing 2-0 against the eventual state runner-up Huskies. Engelken finished with 3 goals and 4 assists last year playing as a defensive midfielder who set the table for the team on defense and on the attack.
Blue Valley North's Jada Farrington
JADA FARRINGTON, BLUE VALLEY NORTH
Farrington, an Abilene Christian signee, provides Blue Valley North with a lockdown defender who forces opposing offenses to navigate their attacks far away from her side of the pitch. She earned All-State and All-EKL second team as a junior last season. Farrington played a key role in the Mustangs overcoming an 0-3-0 start by winning seven straight matches. Blue Valley North ultimately finished 9-8-0, but Farrington’s talent has the team optimistic that it can spend this season looking much more like that middle stretch of last year.

A three-year starter at Cair Paravel the past three seasons, Friess will finish her high school career at Rural after transferring over the summer. She was a major factor in the Lions’ emergence as one of the top programs in Class 4-1A and helped them to a runner-up state finish a year ago, falling 1-0 in overtime to Bishop Miege in the title game. Friess, who has signed with Air Force, was a first-team All-Class 4-1A selection at forward for the third straight year and was a second-team All-Kaw Valley Conference selection as a junior after being first team as a sophomore and freshman. She finished last season with 18 goals and 5 assists and in her career has 81 goals and 31 assists.

NASTASSJA GARRETT, BLUE VALLEY NORTHWEST
Garrett is the only one of the Huskies’ three All-State selections returning from last season. She landed on the All-State and All-EKL second team as a midfielder as Blue Valley Northwest earned a state runner-up finish. Garrett might need to lead a more aggressive attack for the Huskies this year after the team graduated the 6A goalkeeper of the year in Nimu Karani, who allowed the team to pull out many victories in low scoring contests. Garrett still produced 4 goals and 4 assists last season.
Shawnee Mission South's Isabelle Gordon
ISABELLE GORDON, SHAWNEE MISSION SOUTH
Gordon earned All-State honorable mention and All-Sunflower League first-team honors at defender as a sophomore last season. She helped lead Shawnee Mission South to a 10-8-0 record. The Raiders even won their postseason opener 10-0 against Wyandotte before ultimately falling 2-0 against Olathe Northwest in the regional finals.
Blue Valley North's Camylle Graves
CAMYLLE GRAVES, BLUE VALLEY NORTH
Graves led the Mustangs in scoring last year as a junior forward. She earned All-State and All-EKL first-team honors. Graves uses her speed and creativity to leave opposing defenses reeling when she leads the way on an attack. She’s committed to playing soccer in college at Eastern Illinois.

ADDISON GRIFFEY, BLUE VALLEY WEST
Griffey earned All-State and All-EKL first-team honors at defender as a junior last season. She helped lead Blue Valley West to a state championship, the program’s sixth in the last seven years. With the graduation of Devin Monahan, Griffey will look to step up as the defense’s senior leader in the Jaguars' quest for a repeat state championship. Griffey will play at Central Arkansas next year.
Washburn Rural's Destiny Higgs (24)
DESTINY HIGGS, WASHBURN RURAL
A four-year starter and captain as a junior and senior for the Junior Blues, Higgs was a first-team All-City and All-Centennial League pick last year while also earning second-team All-Class 6A honors. The Washburn signee finished the season with nine goals and seven assists and in her career has racked up 20 goals and 15 assists. She’s been a part of two straight third-place finishing teams with Rural going 17-4 last year, falling to Blue Valley Northwest 1-0 in double overtime in the semifinals.

KATE HINCK, WASHBURN RURAL
Even with a year left to play, Hinck is one of the most prolific goal-scorers in Rural’s rich history, going into her senior season ranking No. 2 on the Junior Blues all-time list with 54 career goals. The senior four-year starter and two-year captain banged home 28 of those goals last year on her way to being named the Centennial League player of the year. The Washburn signee earned first-team All-Class 6A and All-City honors as well and also had 14 career assists. The forward helped lead Rural to a 17-4 record and second straight third-place finish at the Class 6A state tournament.
Washburn Rural's Addyson Kaberline
ADDYSON KABERLINE, WASHBURN RURAL
Kaberline has been an anchor for Washburn Rural’s stingy defense for the past two seasons, helping the Junior Blues to third-place finishes in Class 6A each of those seasons. Last year, she led a defensive group that was young, but helped Rural post 15 shutouts in the 19 games leading up to the state final four. The Junior Blues allowed just seven goals overall last season in going 17-4 and Kaberline earned first-team All-City and All-Centennial League honors and was a second-team All-Class 6A selection as well. She has signed with Northeast Community College in Nebraska.

LaBounty earned All-EKL second team honors as a midfielder during her junior campaign last season. She helped lead Blue Valley Northwest to a state runner-up finish. LaBounty scored six goals for the Huskies last year.
Olathe East's Hannah Lavender
HANNAH LAVENDER, OLATHE EAST
Lavender returns for her senior season as the top midfielder for an Olathe East team chasing its first regional championship game appearance since 2022. The Hawks finished 13-4-0 last year, but saw their season end in the opening round of the playoffs. Lavender earned All-State and All-Sunflower League second-team honors. She also had two goals and an assist. Lavender has committed to play soccer at Loras College in Iowa next year.

MIKAELA LLAMAS, MAIZE
Llamas helped Maize reach the state semifinals for the first time since 2018 by scoring a team-leading 13 goals with three assists last spring. Now in her sophomore season, Eagles coach Jay Holmes has been looking for Llamas to use her creativity to provide easy goal-scoring opportunities for teammates. Llamas, an All-Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail Division I second-team pick and All-6A honorable mention, averaged a goal and an assist through the Eagles’ first four games of 2025.

Lucas returns after being selected All-Sunflower League first team at midfielder as a junior last year. She scored eight goals and dished out four assists for the Lancers as they finished 9-7-1 with a trip to the regional finals.
Wichita North's Kaitlyn Martinez
KAITLYN MARTINEZ, WICHITA NORTH
Martinez, a junior goalkeeper and two-year starter, is on pace to sail past her shutout total of 2024, when she stacked six clean sheets and was selected to the All-Greater Wichita Athletic League first team. Good instincts and fundamentals helped Martinez notch three shutouts in North’s first five games this season. “She keeps us in games with intelligent as well as athletic play,” North coach Curt Wullschleger said. “She cuts down the attacker’s angle with perfect body positioning. She routinely makes difficult saves look easy.”
Blue Valley's Sophia Mir
SOPHIA MIR, BLUE VALLEY
Mir returns after earning All-State and All-EKL second-team honors at midfield as a junior last year. She’ll be a key leader for a Blue Valley team hoping to rebound from a 5-11-1 campaign, which included a 5-1 loss against Mill Valley in the opening round of the playoffs.
Shawnee Mission East's Sylvia Mohrsting
SYLVIA MOHRSTING, SHAWNEE MISSION EAST
Mohrsting earned All-State honorable mention and All-Sunflower League first-team honors at forward as a junior last season. She scored five goals and dished out four assists for the Lancers. Her numbers could improve with Shawnee Mission East re-adding Natalie Scobie back to the squad as an attacking midfielder after she played in the ECNL Super Cup last spring.
Olathe Northwest's Ava Patterson (25)

Patterson earned All-State and All-Sunflower League first-team honors at midfield as a junior last season. In fact, she also earned a second All-State first team spot as a defender as well. She helped lead Olathe Northwest to a regional championship and a 15-4-0 record.

JADYN PERALES, MAIZE
Perales has moved from the defensive midfield position last year to center back for her senior season. One of the Eagles’ team captains, Perales earned All-Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail Division I first-team honors after scoring 12 goals and adding seven assists while helping Maize post a 14-6-1 record and fourth-place finish in 6A. Her play helped Maize roll through three regional matches by a combined 19-1 score. Perales an all-league honorable mention pick as a sophomore, scored three goals and added an assist in Maize’s first four games this spring.
Blue Valley West's Rosemary Pujado
ROSEMARY PUJADO, BLUE VALLEY WEST
Pujado returns for her senior season as one four returning All-State selections for the Jaguars. She scored 13 goals and dished out six assists for a Blue Valley West team that won the 6A state championship, the program’s sixth title in the last seven seasons. Pujado, a Missouri Western signee for soccer, relentlessly drives the action for the Jaguars while still maintaining precision when she delivers the ball, no matter if she's finding a teammate or the back of the net. She earned All-EKL honorable mention as a sophomore before earning All-State and All-EKL first team honors at forward last season.

JAMIE RICKER, MILL VALLEY
Ricker earned All-State second team and All-Sunflower League first team at goalkeeper as a sophomore last season. She racked up 11 shutouts for a Jaguars team that finished the regular season undefeated. Ricker even pitched a shutout through two overtimes of the state quarterfinals, only for Blue Valley Northwest to win in PKs and end the Jaguars’ pursuit of two straight state titles.
Wichita Heights' Annalys Rivas
ANNALYS RIVAS, WICHITA HEIGHTS
Rivas, a junior, has earned All-Greater Wichita Athletic League first-team recognition at goalkeeper in each of her first two seasons. After sharing the honor with Wichita Northwest’s Lilliana Hernandez as a freshman, Rivas split the accolade with Wichita North’s Kaitlyn Martinez last season. First-year Heights coach Marcos Gonzalez said Rivas' distribution skills help generate faster counterattacks. She also plays forward as a secondary position. Rivas is off to another solid start this season, as the Falcons posted shutouts in Titan Classic victories over Winfield and Circle to help the Falcons go 2-1 in the tournament.
Dodge City's Jasmine Ruiz
JASMINE RUIZ, DODGE CITY
Ruiz has already re-written the Red Demons’ record book. She entered her senior season with a program-best 104 career goals and also owns the single-season school record for goals scored with 43. The four-year starter played midfielder last year, recording 28 goals and nine assists to help the Red Demons go 11-4-1 and win the WAC title. Ruiz was named Western Conference Player of the Year last season. She’s expected to move back to forward striker this season.
Blue Valley's Calle Sartino
CALLE SARTINO, BLUE VALLEY
Sartino earned All-EKL second-team honors at forward as a junior last season. She’ll try to help the Tigers rebound from a 5-11-1 campaign. Blue Valley lost 5-1 against Mill Valley in the opening round of the postseason.
Blue Valley West's Megan Walters
MEGAN WALTERS, BLUE VALLEY WEST
Walters will be the most experienced member of the Jaguars' midfield as a senior this year. She earned All-State second-team honors as midfielder last year alongside then-freshman Ava Brown. With Brown opting to play for the KC Athletics’ Elite Clubs National League team, Walters will likely need to take on bigger responsibility in her role this season. She has the necessary ability to do so. Walters, an Iowas State signee for soccer, uses he elite speed to pressure defenses while also having the touch and precision to both score and find her teammates in position to do the same.
Olathe West's Jules Wardlaw
JULES WARDLAW, OLATHE WEST
Wardlaw earned All-State and All-Sunflower League first-team honors at midfielder during her junior campaign last season. She also was named the Sunflower League’s midfielder of the year. Wardlaw helped lead Olathe West to a 13-4-1 record last year before losing 1-0 in overtime of the regional championship match against eventual state champion Blue Valley West. That loss prevented the Owls from winning their third straight regional title.
Free State's Taylor Woods (20)
TAYLOR WOODS, FREE STATE
Woods helped lead Free State to a surprise run to a regional championship last season. The Firebirds were 3-11-1 heading into the postseason before back-to-back wins over Dodge City and Derby. Free State’s run came to an end with a 4-0 loss to Washburn Rural in the state quarterfinals, but Woods and her teammates are hoping to build off their deep run and carry the momentum into this season. Woods, a senior midfielder, earned All-Sunflower League first-team honors last year.
Olathe North's Allie Workman
ALLIE WORKMAN, OLATHE NORTH
Workman returns for her senior season following an All-Sunflower League first-team selection last season. She will help the Eagles try to improve on last year’s 7-10-0 record. Their season ended with a 1-0 loss against Olathe West in the opening round of the postseason.
